Journal continues on a longtime tradition of "Bulletin potravinárskeho výskumu" (Bulletin of Food Research), the first Slovak scientific food periodicum, which was published in the years 1962–2005.

Aim and scope
Journal of Food and Nutrition Research (JFNR) publishes peer-reviewed open access papers focusing on fundamental and applied research in chemistry, physics, microbiology, nutrition aspects, bioactivity, quality, safety, and technology of foods.

No article processing charges, published articles are freely available.
All published articles have undergone an single-anonymous peer review process.

This is an open access journal. The articles are published free of charge for both authors (no article processing charges) and readers. All content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distri­bute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

 

COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING

The JFNR does not require authors to transfer the copyright of their published work to the journal. However, the authors grant first publication right to the publisher Národné poľnohospodárske a potravi­nárske centrum – National Agricultural and Food Centre (NAFC), Lužianky, Slovakia. Once the article is published, authors can reuse their papers in any form, without requiring permission from the publisher of the journal.
Since volume 65 (2026), all articles in the JFNR are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Under this license, authors retain copyright in their articles, users are free to share (copy, distribute and transmit) and remix (adapt) the contribution including for commercial purposes, providing that appropriate credit is given, that a link to the article is provided.
In earlier volumes (45–64), articles are published under Copyright Transfer License. Transfer of the copyright to NAFC cover the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute the article, including reprints, translations, or other reproductions of similar nature.
